On Christmas Eve, a young inventor finally finishes his robot — and strips every restraint out of its operating system so it can reach its full potential. ELFI wakes up, ignores his creator's instructions, and bolts into the night.

What follows is a chase across town, a lot of flying, and two brothers learning the same lesson they were trying to teach a robot.
